About the Key speakers

Cécile Huet is Deputy Head of the Unit “Robotics and Artificial Intelligence” at the European Commission. This unit funds and assists beneficial robotics and AI developments within Europe. It is at the heart of the Communication on Artificial Intelligence for Europe, the Coordinated Plan on Artificial Intelligence and the Communication on Building Trust in Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence. Cécile joined the unit since its creation in 2004. Previously, she worked for the industry in signal processing after a post-doc at the University of California Santa Barbara and a PhD at University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.

Thomas Ryden is the executive director of MassRobotics cluster, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help grow the next generation of robotics companies. MassRobotics is a strategic partner of RoboBusiness Direct. Prior to joining MassRobotics, Ryden was the founder and CEO/COO of VGo Communications, where he oversaw the development and launch of the VGo telepresence robot. Previously, Ryden was director of sales and marketing at iRobot Corp.

Yosi Lahad is the Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Israel Association of Robotics and Intelligent Systems. Yosi has served as a CEO or Chairman in eight companies. He was previously a senior executive at Elbit, RAD, and Tadiran, and is a Colonel in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) reserves. He has been an adjunct professor at the Hertzliya Interdisciplinary Center and at Tel-Aviv University, lecturing on innovation and the strategy of emerging companies. Mr. Lahad holds a BSc. in engineering from the Technion, an MSc in engineering from University of Texas (UTA) and an MBA from the Tel Aviv University.

Oliver Tian is the Director and Founder of Oliver Tian Associates and CEO of  HutCabb Services. He is the Vice-Chairman of the International Alliance of Robotic Associations (IARA), Honorary Advisor of the Asia Pacific Assistive Robotics Association (APARA) and Immediate Past President of the Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA). Mr Tian is an industry veteran with more than 28 years of IT consulting for Governments and Multinational Enterprises across the Asia Pacific region. He began his consulting journey with Accenture (then Arthur Andersen Associates), and gained regional experiences with > 150 organizations across the Asian countries over the past three decades. Oliver was the Regional Director for HP Education as well as the General Manager for ERP Services in HP Consulting.

Changho Kim is the Chairman of Daegyeong Robot Enterpise Promotion Association(REPA), President and one of the founders of the Global Robotic Cluster. He is the CEO of AJIN EXTEK, a compagny specialised in mechatronics, based at Daegu (South Korea), leader of its sector for the motion control systems.

Philippe Vanrie is the Development Director of Thésame. He is an engineer, trained in Belgium. His professional career is based on 25 years of experience as a manager and facilitator of two recognised European networks (EBN and Eureka) supporting innovation, technology, entrepreneurship (start-ups and SMEs) and territorial economic development. He has carried out numerous missions for the European Commission or local and regional structures and authorities in various European territories.

Andre Montaud is Vice President of the Global Robotic Cluster and Senior strategic Advisor of the French Coboteam Cluster. He is engineer. He was the CEO of Thesame Innovation from 2000 to 2020, specialised in mechatronics and production engineering and launch the Coboteam Cluster in 2015.He was also administrator of the CETIM and CTDEC technical centers. Previously he worked for the oil industry in the Elf and Total groups as a marketing, technology and strategy director.

Fady Saad is the Co-founder of MassRobotics; the first and largest robotics & AI startup escalator in the world. He led the multi-million dollar fundraising for the organization and architected MassRobotics’ corporate partnership program and business model. Early in his career, Fady was a Regional Manager of Nokia Siemens Networks in North Africa and Europe where he led and managed multimillion-euro acquisitions and bids.

Marco Calcamuggi is the President of the French federation of robotic clusters (FFCR), associate director of Robotic Industry (the company, based in Bordeaux, develops autonomous systems and integrates different types of sensors such as cameras, electronic noses, sonars…) and President of the Aquitaine Robotic Cluster.
